The Alt Theatre, opened in October 2007, is an intimate black box theatre nestled on the third floor of The Great Arrow Industrial Park. In residence at the Theatre is the NEW ALT PERFORMANCE GROUP. The Alt is located at 255 Great Arrow Avenue, which connects Delaware Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. The setting is a post-industrial atmosphere where the huge complex was once the heart of the birthplace of America’s famous Pierce Arrow. We are conveniently located between two bus lines and there is has ample free parking. Our theatre is handicap accessible with a manned elevator during all productions. We are just ¾ of a mile north of The Albright Knox Art Gallery and The Burchfield-Penny Art Center, a few blocks from The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society and walking distance to Delaware Park.

The NEW ALT PERFORMANCE GROUP, a non-profit, 501c3 organization in residence at The Alt Theatre in its third season of operation, is requesting your financial support. What is The Alt? And why give to it?It all comes from one woman’s idealism and faith in her vocation and hometown. At The Alt Theatre, Amy Taravella has created a location where cooperatively grouped professional artists can work in an experimentation-friendly environment to his/her highest potential and uncover genius in creativity and presentation. It is the original idea of this courageous founder that via this unassuming theatre and with complete dedication, the cutting-edge contemporary performance, the relevant art of our times, could become more accessible to the people of Buffalo. Now there is a group of diversified professional artists working under this doctrine–they are the NEW ALT PERFORMANCE GROUP (NAPG). The artists have years of professional experience on many varied fronts and they write, act, play, film, and dance with a refreshing passion. They apply all of their soul to the work, thus connecting with audiences and moving them in ways deemed impossible in conventional theatre. Over the last year, we have assembled a group of skilled and dedicated volunteers who cover all aspects of production, including set design, audio/visual needs, house management, administrative and capacity building, backstage operations, and video archiving. The Alt, being the “new guy” on the cultural landscape of Buffalo is not, as of yet, receiving large amounts of public funding but are working extremely hard on a frugal budget to offer the excellent programming for which we are now known. Please join an already immense family of supporters of the NAPG dedicated to seeing the Alt take its deserved place within the wonderful theatre community of Buffalo.
